(Originally secret) report prepared by British Military Attache in Istanbul F.R. Maunsell for military use. A kind of traveller’s guide for army officers, containing a wealth of information about social and physical geography of the area. Maunsell, like other British military attaches in Constantinople before and after him was a well informed traveller and specialist on the Ottoman Empire. Some of his travel reports were published in the Geographical Journal.
