Çarpanak (Ktutz) Island, Lake Van
"The Island of Ktutz" (now called "Çarpanak") is one the four islands in lake Van. All of these four islands had an Armenian monastic community, the Church and Monastery of Aghtamar being the most famous of them.
The monastery on Ktutz/Çarpanak,was devoted to St.John. The main chuch (interior shown in the picture at the left) was built comparatively recently and dated from the 18th century.
